Related Group may be gearing up to relaunch one of its projects in Brickell. One Brickell was suppose to be built at The Capital Grille site located at 444 Brickell Ave. The mega riverfront complex was to have three towers soaring 57, 77, and 82-stories and be comprised of 1400 residences and 249 hotel rooms plus parking and commercial space. However, due to lackluster pre-sales from launching why too late in the cycle, Related put the project on hold.
However in a recent interview, Related founder, Jorge Perez, said that the first tower at the 444 Brickell site will have 500 units and various uses. They want to develop a densely populated urban lifestyle, close to transit without the need for cars. This location is ideal for both with the 5th St Metromover station down the street and the Brickell Ave bridge to cross into downtown out the front door. Related’s Jon Paul Perez made a statement in another recent interview that they’d like to develop a Pelli or Rem Koolhaas waterfront project in Brickell. Coincidentally, the late Cesar Pelli was the original architect for One Brickell. Related purchased the riverfront site 6 years ago for $100 million.
