Downtown Miami’s historic Burdines Building will soon have a new tenant. After Macy’s shut its doors, the site wasn’t going to be vacant for long. Ross Dress for Less will be relocating from 100 S Biscayne Blvd to the former Macy’s location after build out. Construction permits have already been approved for the 34,192 sqft ground-level space to be renovated at a $2,991,800 price tag. The escalators to the 2nd floor will be walled off, perhaps for another tenant. A separate construction has also been approved for 3174 sqft of retail space to be renovated for $277,726 to an unknown tenant.
The Ross relocation is likely due to their current lease ending at the One Bayfront Plaza. The 19-story office and retail tower, owned by Florida East Coast Realty, has long been proposed to be demolished to make way for FECR’s newest project. The new mixed-use tower is said to soar 92 stories and feature office and retail space, hotel, and residences.
